Announcement of Participants Selected for Vedic Chanting Scholarship

One of the initiatives of the recently launched Center for Consciousness Studies and Inner Transformation of Indic Academy is to develop the curriculum and offer a Yogacharya course. Such a course is meant for serious practitioners and for those who have completed a teacher training program from other institutes. The curriculum envisaged will include Vedic Chanting, Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Yoga Sutras, Gita, Bhajans etc. amongst other topics. It will be a residential program with a daily schedule that will enable inner transformation. As a precursor to such a program, we are pleased to present a series of short-term courses in collaboration with specialists from different fields mentioned above.

One of the first such programmes is a Vedic Chanting course with Shantala Sriramaiah, a Brussels based chanting teacher from Bangalore, India, with a growing global student community. Earlier, Indic Academy had announced six scholarships each worth 290 Euros each to support eligible seekers for this programme. Given the overwhelming response the scholarships have been extended to 11 participants.

The list of selected participants is as follows:

She is extraordinarily dedicated, disciplined and devoted to her goals of teaching chanting and we look forward to more collaborative work in the future.”

Dr. Vinayachandra Banavathy, Director, Indica Yoga further adds that “Indic Academy and Indica Yoga is committed to deliver the teachings of the Yogic tradition in an authentic and experiential manner. In this context, we had announced fellowships for a foundation course in Vedic chanting with Smt. Shantala Sriramaiah for yoga teachers. This is in line with our firm belief that mantra chanting is an integral part of training in Yoga. We are overwhelmed with the response received and happy that this programme is taking off soon. We are keen to support and facilitate more such programmes in the future.”

Shantala Sriramaiah who will be leading the programme, remarks that, “it is a privilege to partner with Indic Academy to bring the teachings of Vedic chanting to serious practitioners and teachers of Yoga. It will be my great honour to lead this group of seekers through a solid foundation in chanting and help link to the source teachings of Yoga.”

The course will commence from 17th April and conclude by 5th June, 2021
