On the occasion of International Yoga Day, it is propitious that the Swami Muktananda ji, of Anandashram, Kerala, shares with us various aspects of Yoga and its connection to daily …
Swami Muktanandaji is the Spiritual head and Managing trustee of Anandashram in Kanhangad, Kerala, South India. Born in 1944 in Wayanad, Kerala, he was deeply inclined to spirituality from a very young age. The universal vision and values that became the bedrock of his life were inspired by the pious and noble lives of his own parents. Later, while pursuing his professional life in different places, he led an austere life and continued his spiritual practises. Inspired by the noble life and teachings of Papa Swami Ramdas, he came to Anandashram and met Mother Krishnabai and Swami Satchidanandaji. Eventually, he dedicated his whole life there.
Anandashram was founded by Papa Swami Ramdas and his disciple and successor - Mother Krishnabai, in 1931. The foundation of Anandashram, as declared by Swami Ramdas on its opening day, is ‘the Universal Love and Service based upon the vision of Divinity in everyone’. For more than eight decades, Ashram has been sharing this message with thousands of devotees from all over the world. With a view to spread this ideal into different segments of the society, especially the education sector, Swami Muktanandaji promoted two innovative initiatives - VITAL (Value Integrated Teaching And Learning) & VSET (Vishwa Seva Education Trust). Inspired by Swami Ramdas’ clarion call - ‘universalize your vision’, these ongoing projects are aimed at transforming our education system as an avenue for expansion ‘from me to we’.
