Yoga in the current era, is now well established as a complementary healing therapy worldwide. But is the potential of Yoga limited only to curing backpains and headaches (though it is a also very important contribution). What are the higher dimensions of Yoga? what are the deeper dynamics of human existence that Yogins of past experienced? The talk discusses this aspect with anecdotes references and from the life and teachings of Yogin Sadashiva Brahmendra (18th Century)
About the Speaker
Jayaraman Mahadevan is the Director, Research, Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, Chennai, India . He holds a PhD for his research dissertation on “The Doctrine of Tantrayukti” from University of Madras (2010). He works in the area of textual studies and research in Yoga. He has to his credit 11 peer-reviewed papers and 12 books on textual aspects of Yoga and the Vedas. He has traveled nationally and internationally to conduct workshops and present papers in conferences related to Yoga, Sanskrit and Indic Research Methodology. His special focus currently is to develop interactive methods to teach texts of Yoga to facilitate an immersive learning experience.
