Day 15 Session 01: A Talk On Importance Of Guru Parampara by Ramachandra Bhat

About the Session

This session will bring out the significance of Guru Parampara on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima celebrated marking the birth day of Sage Vyasa according to Indian lunar calendar (5th July, 2020 this year).  It is celebrated as a tribute to all spiritual masters and teachers who are ever willing to share their knowledge generously. Vyasa is the name given to the unbroken lineage from the time immemorial. Knowledge is the real power of our great spiritual masters belonging to this perennial flow of Indian tradition with two main streams - the first one is called Yoga and the second one is Yaga stream. The speaker will lay before us the benevolent nature of this flow that touches and transforms our lives.

 

About the Speaker

Dr. Ramachandra Bhat Kotemane is vidwan in Vedanta and Nyaya Darshanas. He has graduated in English, Economics and History, and also has a B,Ed in Hindi. Having a teaching experience of 38 years and a research experience of 15 years, his passion is Yoga and the Gurukula education system. He is currently serving as the Chairman of Veda Vijnana Shodha Samsthanam - a Bangalore based research centre focussing on Samskrit and Contemporary Studies. Earlier he was the Vice-chancellor of the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Sansthana (SVYASA) a world renowned Yoga University in Bangalore. He is also the founder of Veda Vijnana Gurukulam and served as its Principal for the first 12 years. He firmly believes that the Gurukul system of education is the best to inculcate a good value system in young minds and also for physical and mental development. He has written two papers published in the International Journal of Yoga related to this subject. He has also published six books and CDs on related topics.
