Day 36 Session 02: As a Man’s Faith is, so is He: Teachings From The Seventeenth Chapter of The Bhagavad Gita by Swami Brahmananda

About the Talk

In his commentary to the Bhagavad Gita Ch. 17, Swami Sivananda writes: The whole world is made up, as it were, of faith. Faith - the vision one has of oneself and the world, the sumtotal of one's vasanas and samskaras is the underlying force behind one's desires, aspirations and actions. Everything we perceive in this world is the result of the vision, the knowledge that dominated the minds of the people of the past and present. This faith is divided into Sattvic which is oriented towards freedom and knowledge of the Self, Rajasic - dominated by the desire to act and achieve and Tamasic which lacks a vision and therefore has no inspiration or motivation. The importance of Sadhana for purification of the mind is thus stressed.
